Episode 2 - Introduction to Human Design

Transcript

Hi, and welcome back. I'm a reporter, the host of Living Matters podcast. And to get us started, I thought that we'd really dive into human design first. I have so much information I love to share about this. I have a book called Parenting the Child. You have reimagining the parent child relationship through the lens of human design, and I have a new workbook that's accompanying it, coming out in the next month or two, I would imagine.

I don't have an exact date yet. Um, And it may be released by the time you hear this, so go check Amazon or your favorite bookseller to see if they have it available, if it's something that you wanna look into right now. But in the meantime, I'd like to just kind of talk about what is human design.

Human design is something that came into awareness in 1987 by a man who went by the name of RA Uru, who he had a. Experience where he communicated with something that he called the voice over a period of several days. And this voice told him about this system. And to be perfectly honest, this was a white man in the eighties who channeled this system, from what he called the voice, having this experience on the island of Ibiza.

And I think it's important that we talk about the components of the system because, He did not create this, he overlaid these systems and was given this, I guess, divine guidance about how this system works when we put these elements together. But each one of these systems is their own system in their entirety, and human design just takes pieces of it and puts it together to form something else.

But I think it's important that we, we give acknowledgement to these systems that it came from. So human design is , a synthesis of astrology, of the ing of the Judaic, Kabbalah of the chakra systems and quantum mechanics. And, you know, it's, it's something that is not any one of them in their entirety, but it pulls elements from each and overlays into the system that we call human design.

What I love about human design is that. Well, for me, let me just say this. I have always been somebody who's been very interested in personality typing and, all of those personality assessments and quizzes that you'll find in, well, what used to be magazines and now is online and in, Facebook and Instagram and all the other places that you'll find, little polls and quizzes and things.

But I think it's fascinating to understand. What makes people tick? Why do we behave the way that we do? And I think that we're all kind of wondering that about ourselves as well. You know, why are we the way that we are? And human design really comes in and gives us information to show us why we are the way we are and that it's okay to be the way that we are.

There's nothing wrong with us for being somebody who is emotional. There's nothing wrong with us for being somebody who has a lot of logic and has a hard time focusing elsewhere. There's nothing wrong with the people who, you know. There are people who are designed to just be a little more judgmental, and that judgment actually helps us to see other ways of being, and if they were very passive in their approach in.

Sharing information, we probably wouldn't, it probably wouldn't have the impact on us that it does. So, you know, everybody and every design has its purpose. Some of the charts have what feel like more challenges in our modern society than others. But every chart has a challenge. And that challenge is the thing that we are working through in this lifetime, so that we become the best version of ourselves so that we learn the lesson in this life.

We're also presented with gifts. Every chart has gifts. Every chart has something that's really amazing about it innately. And the great thing about the chart is that it doesn't tell us who we are. It doesn't tell us how we have to be, but it gives us an a blueprint of the energy that we carry that is consistent within this world.

And then we get to decide. Do we want to show up and express the lowest expression of this energy, or do we want to evolve to the highest expression of this energy? And it doesn't mean that we're gonna be in the highest expression of the energy in all of the chart all the time. That's kind of impossible.

But it shows us that there's potential that we can change, that we can evolve, and that if there are parts of us that we struggle with, that we find challenging, we can either learn to love them. We can evolve them to their higher aspects and, and become a higher, evolved being through this process. So human design doesn't tell us how to be, it doesn't tell us who to be.

It tells us the energy that we are born with that is consistent and inherent within us. And then we get to decide from there. So, like raw always said, you know, don't believe me. Go try it yourself. Like. Here's the chart and you get to experiment and play with it. So as I go through the information that we'll be talking about in the next few weeks, I wanna be clear that nothing in the chart defines you.

It is not limiting, it is not here to box you in it. And I've seen this in. Various places with human design and how it's presented is that there is one correct way, that there is one interpretation of it, that there is a correct and an incorrect way of being. And I don't believe that to be true. I believe that this system can free you if you let it, but if you, are not careful, you can let it box you in.

So. I, for example, am what we would call in human design, a five two emotional projector. I have seven of my nine centers defined, which is a lot for a projector. But a projector has a. Strategy of operating in the world where we have to wait for the invitation. And I've heard it said a lot that projectors are not meant to work.

That they are not meant to do things unless they are invited explicitly, that they have to sit at home and wait for somebody to come knocking on their door and give them this big invitation and. If I chose to believe that I would never do anything, I would sit in my basement, I would be broke, I would be bored.

I would probably be very sad, and that's not a very expansive way of being, but a projector can follow their desires. They can do things on their own that drive them, that make them feel good, that make them feel excited, and they can follow those and do those things without the invitation of another.

When they want to engage with somebody in a way that, um, that relationship will go on for some time, whether that's a business partnership, a romantic partnership, parenting or a place to live, or, , you know, any job that you get there needs to be an invitation because what's happening is that you are sharing energy with this person.

You know, the. Projector and the generator work really well together. And we'll talk more about what these types are in the future, but just kind of on a general basis, generator types comprise about 70% of the population while projectors are about 20%. So there's this synergistic relationship between them where the projector is needing the invitation and the recognition to borrow, kind of borrow the energy from the generator to sustain the work that they'll be doing together.

The generator benefits by having the guidance, which is what the projector is known for, of the projector during that relationship as well. So it's very mutually, beneficial for both of them, but it has to be entered into correctly. So this is where the invitation comes from. And you know, this is just one example of a place where we can get boxed into thinking that there's this limiting belief that we can't do things like other people and true.

We all have our way of doing things, and as a projector it's gonna be different than a generator. But you know, if I let that limit me and say that I can't do anything unless somebody comes knocking on my door and looking for me, well, how are they supposed to find me if I'm just sitting in my basement all the time?

So I have to get out in the world and I have to share what I'm doing so that people can recognize what I do and say, Hey, I know somebody who does this thing. Let me connect you with them. That is how the projector gets the recognition is by being out in the world. So here's just a brief introduction into human design.

We'll talk more about the energy types in the coming weeks. We'll talk about strategy, we'll talk about authority, we'll talk about profile types, and then we'll go from there and see what else is coming up. But, that's all I have for you today and if you have any questions, please message me. I always like to hear from people and.

See what's on their mind, see what they are taking in from what I'm sharing. And um, if there's any questions that I can answer, so my website is ayprilporter.com. Email is hello@aprilporter.com and I look forward to hearing from you.
