Episode 5 - Introduction to the Projector Energy Type in Human Design

Transcript

Hi, and welcome back. And this week we are talking about human design projectors. All right, so we've already covered manifestors and generators and manifesting generators. The third type we'll talk about is the projector, which is about 20% of the population.

Their purpose is to guide the energy of the planet. , their strategy is to wait for the invitation for the big things in life and wait for the right timing to share their insights with others after being recognized. So this is a place where we talk about the invitation that gets confusing. And I know that I briefly mentioned this in the intro episode, but the.

Invitation for projector is twofold. One, there needs to be recognition, so it needs to be specific to this projector. Any invitation is not the correct invitation, and it can feel like it takes forever sometimes for a projector to get the recognition or an invitation. And because this takes so long, I see projectors, myself included, jumping into.

invitations without really thinking about it and connecting with my or their inner authority to make sure that it's right. I've gotten much better at this over the years, but I can say for a long time I was not. And we can get ourselves into these situations where we're doing things that we don't wanna do and then our not self emotion of bitterness shows up.

So the invitation is meant to be for the big things. Where to live, where to work, who to have a relationship, whether it's romantic or business or anything else. And this is because when we are engaging with somebody else and we are committing to something, we are sharing energy. We need their shared energy to help fuel us, and we are being invited to guide them.

If we don't have the invitation to guide, then it will be met with. resentment or bitterness on their part, or just a refusal of accepting what you know, and that can feel like a rejection of the projector, which can lead to that bitterness again. and I, I think that this is the hard thing because it takes so long, but the recognition is the most important part.

You know, invitations will come. But is it the right invitation? And the way that you know it's the right invitation is because you feel recognized, you feel seen for who you are at your core. That part of you that not everyone sees. When somebody sees that in you, it feels like the most magnificent thing.

Like you are valued, like you are precious. And that is what you were looking for in that invitation is are they asking me because I am. The right person for this, or I am the only person for this, or are they asking me because they need a body to fill this role and I'm available, or they know that I'll say yes because I'm hungry for an invitation.

You know, it's, it's really important to discern those invitations and choose only the ones that are correct for you. So the emotional signature of the projector is success. When we are in alignment, when we are getting recognized, when we are getting invitations and we are doing what we are here to do, guiding energy, we feel success.

And success doesn't always mean money. Sometimes it's money, but sometimes it's just that feeling of success, of helping somebody, of being, of use, of contributing to , the global impact of the world. Like it, it's not always about money. And so I know that in our society we get really caught up on money.

but we can't measure our success as a projector by the amount of money we have. That is just not what it's about. , when we are not living in alignment, we feel that not self emotional signature of bitterness. And I have to say that when I first heard this, I was like, bitterness. I'm not bitter. I don't get bitter.

I get mad, I get frustrated and all these other things, but. I don't get bitter, but the more I sat with this, the more I realized actually it is bitterness When I'm not feeling recognized, when I feel like I'm giving and I'm not getting anything back , when I'm feeling like other people have opportunities that I seem to not have or it takes a long time for, I was feeling bitterness.

And that bitterness is what blocks the invitations. You're not going to get an invitation if you were feeling bitter. Just nobody wants to be guided by bitterness. So the best thing that we can do as projectors is to work on our self-worth to know that we are worthy to know, that we are valuable, to know that we have something to contribute and to hone a skill.

So it's important that the projector have something that they are skilled at, that they're knowledgeable at, that they are a resource for, so that people understand. This is what they are good at, and I can ask them for support in this area. I know to go to them because they are a resource in this area.

They can help me in this way. If they don't really know what you do, it's gonna be harder for them to invite you into things. And this just may be how you are. Maybe you're a caring person, maybe you're a generous person. Maybe you're a loving person. Maybe you are, um, a very sensitive person. Maybe you're a good listener.

You know, it doesn't have to mean that you have a. A trade of some sort necessarily, but there is something about you that is very consistent within you that they see. So this invitation is the gateway to sharing what you know, to sharing your insights and your wisdom. Because as a projector you have that 40,000 foot view that you can see the bigger picture.

You can see how energy is moving. You can see how. Maybe people are doing things in a, in a harder way than necessary and wasting energy because energy is precious to the projector. They're really good at seeing how it is best used. Projectors don't have a defined sacral center. They never do. So that energy is precious.

They're borrowing some of that energy on a daily basis when they are working with people, , with defined sacrals. They have their own energy too, of course, but it's limited. It's not meant to be that. Renewable resource of energy that every day, like the generator, they wake up and they have a full battery and then they have to use it.

which is something I should have actually mentioned in the generator, recording, was that the generator does have to use up all of their energy in the day. If they are not using their energy, then they have trouble sleeping, then they have trouble paying attention the next day. So there's this boomerang effect that happens with them.

Whereas the projector does not have that. They wake up with a limited amount of energy in the day, and then they choose how they use it. So, they have to become really wise at how they use their energy so that they get the most bang for their buck. it's like, I don't know if you've ever heard of the Spoon Theory.

There's a, I can't remember what the website is. Um, I think it's, but you don't look sick.com. , there's a spoon Theory, and this is for people who are chronically ill and I think it kind of applies to. Non sacral like projectors as well in the sense that every day you wake up and you have, you know, a certain amount of spoons, maybe you have 12 spoons that day.

And that's what you have to get through the day and the energy that you have, and every task that you do from showering to feeding yourself to taking care of your kids requires more spoons. And at some point you run out of spoons in that day, and some days you have more spoons than others and. How you're using your energy matters, so you start to become really wise about how you use those spoons and what you use them on, and , that is why it's important for the projector to only take on the invitations that are correct for them.

Because if they're wasting a lot of energy on things that aren't correct for them, it's taking away from their life force in a lot of ways, and it's not being met in a way that is feeding them and giving them that feeling of success.

The other thing that will cause a projector to feel bitterness is if they are not well rested. So if they're overdoing it, if they're overcommitting, if they are not paying attention to their body, they will become burned out very quickly. Most projectors, if they don't live in alignment, will burn out by around the age of 30.

I know from my experience, I burned out at 32 and I burned out really badly. Like I couldn't get off the couch to take care of my kids when they were little. I was laying on the couch napping throughout the day trying to watch them and feed them and take care of them when they were just two and four.

So it was very, very difficult for me. , and it doesn't have to be that way. You know, if we learn these things about ourselves earlier, that we are not generators, that we don't have to push with that energy in the same way because we don't have the same amount of energy, then we don't have to burn out in that way.

It's important for us to nourish ourselves, to value ourselves, to take care of ourselves. And another important thing is that the. Non sacral types. So the manifestors, the projectors and the reflectors all need to rest differently than the generator manifesting generators.

So the non sacral need to get in bed about 30 minutes before they are planning to sleep. They need that time to be lying flat, to decompress, to let all of the energy that they've absorbed throughout the day, that sacral energy and everything else to dissipate. To be in their own aura and to like slowly relax into sleep.

Whereas the generator and the manifesting generator, they kind of need to like run all the way in and slide into bed and then crash, you know, because they're so exhausted physically. So it's a very different approach for the non sacral who, , needs to rest in this way. You may find that the projector and the manifestor and the reflector need naps.

In the day. It doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with them, it's just that they need to recharge and lying down flat in particular is very, replenishing for them. So it's important , if you have a child who naps, who's a projector or a manifestor or a reflector, and they need to nap, to let them have that space to do that, and to not worry that they'll stay up all night long, you know?

Each kid is different and you have to pay attention to that. But listen to what your kid is telling you and listen to what you're seeing and then adjust based on that.

One other thing that is important and unique to the projector is that They need sounding boards. They need people around them who can be sounding boards. So rather than giving advice and telling them what to do, they need somebody trusted that they can share what they're thinking and that they're trying to process with, and who can hold space and ask good questions of them.

So, like a life coach or, anybody who can be that support for you is, is really important that they're not telling you what to do, but that they are just listening and asking you some good questions that make you think better. Make you think about other sides of things, make you think about, you know, aspects that maybe you wouldn't have thought of before.

So the projector needs other people. They need rest. They need to be resourced. They need a proper invitation that requires recognition and a formal invitation. Often they need to be invited twice to make sure it's the right invitation. And know that if it is the right invitation, it'll still be there when you decide.

And if it isn't, then it probably wasn't meant for you right now. It doesn't mean that it's not ever going to be right, but maybe just this instance isn't right or this person isn't right to engage with. So know yourself enough to love yourself enough to wait for the invitation if you were a projector.

If you are a parent of a projector, you need to learn to help your child. Receive invitation. Sometimes that means actually creating the invitation for your child, connecting play dates or inviting kids to birthday parties, or, recognizing your child for what they're good at so that they learn to wait for that recognition to understand that they are good at something and to hone that skill.

These are all very important things for a , , for a projector child to learn. So pay attention to what they're good at. Recognize them for it , and give them that verbal praise when they do something, well, recognize 'em for it. Tell them that they did a great job. Appreciate that they cleaned up their room without you asking them.

And that's another place that they may struggle because without that sacral energy, they may get really distracted and may take 'em a week to clean their room instead of an hour because they don't have the defined sacral energy and they lose interest or they get distracted, or they just don't have the energy.

So sometimes you may have to be there and kind of helping them along the way if you are a generator type, because you are sharing some of that energy that they pick up on and they feel more motivated. So listen to what your kids need. Listen to what you need as a projector or if you know a projector or love a projector, or learn what the invitation is and that it's not just any invitation, it's a true recognition of who that person is that the invitation comes from.

All right, I'm gonna stop there. That's all I have for projectors this week. , if you have questions, please reach out. I always like to hear 'em, and I will see you next week.
